Glasgow MSP Monica Lennon has announced she will run to become the new Scottish Labour leader, while North East Scotland MSP Michael Marra is also tipped for the role.
Mr Marra, The Press and Journal reports, is expected to formally launch his candidacy and could bring more of a focus on the North-east.
However, while his patch area does cover Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, Mr Marra's political focus since first being elected in 2021 has prioritised his home city of Dundee.
It comes as Monica Lennon became the first person to formally launch a leadership bid, telling the Sunday Mail the party needed "radical and fast change" or risked facing "oblivion".
The BBC reports other names linked with a possible leadership bid include Dame Jackie Baillie, Edinburgh Southern MSP Daniel Johnson, and Glasgow regional MSP Paul Sweeney.
