During his placement at Energy Transition Zone (ETZ) Ltd, Mateo del Cura Hurtado had an award-winning experience that far exceeded his expectations.

There, Mateo had the chance to represent ETZ, engage with global companies, and gain exposure to cutting-edge technology, all of which helped expand his technical skills and deepen his understanding of the renewable energy sector.

ETZ entrusted Mateo with meaningful responsibilities, such as integrating CRM software and mapping international offshore wind projects, allowing him to take on leadership roles and contribute to projects with a real impact on the organisation. Working with a diverse team also helped him refine key transferable skills like communication, problem-solving and multitasking.

What truly set his experience apart was the company’s supportive and inclusive culture. Mateo appreciated the tight-knit team, where colleagues often socialised outside of work, building strong personal and professional relationships. 

A highlight of his placement was visiting the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult’s National Floating Wind Innovation Centre, where he saw firsthand the technology driving the future of offshore wind energy.

Overall, Mateo’s time at ETZ Ltd provided him with invaluable hands-on experience, equipping him with the skills and confidence to pursue his career goals in the energy industry.
