Jamieson & Carry picked up the Archibald Simpson award - sponsored by Craig International - at Friday's Northern Star Business Awards at P&J Live.

Over the last five years J&C has embarked on several projects as part of its ambition to deliver the best retail experience in the heart of Aberdeen.

It has carried out a substantial external refurbishment of its B-listed granite building on Union Street using local contractors. A full clean also took place that preserved the original stonework. Although this project offered no financial benefit, J&C saw it as key, leading by example, to showcase how great the granite buildings of Union Street can look.

In December 2023, J&C opened Aberdeen’s first TAG Heuer boutique. Located adjacent to J&C’s existing store, the boutique brought the luxury Swiss watch brand visually into the heart of the granite mile whilst also filling a unit that had been empty for years.

J&C also purchased the former AllSaints store next door. This was another prominent unit that had lain empty for years. This was an ambitious plan to create a new Rolex showroom as part of a redevelopment of 142 Union Street.

The team at J&C have opened their vastly expanded showroom. This includes a new TUDOR ‘Shop in Shop’, a first for Aberdeen. It also includes Scotland’s largest Patek Philippe showroom, something they hope will attract Swiss watch enthusiasts to the city.

J&C believes the key to combatting the online marketplace is to deliver a shopping experience that cannot be matched online. All the investment projects undertaken by J&C over the last five years have had this collective vision.

The five-year project has seen a combined investment of £4.5million into Jamieson & Carry’s retail presence on Union Street.
