Northsound 2 asks listeners why they love where they live

The North-east of Scotland is famous for castles, sandy beaches and granite architecture – and now Northsound 2 is asking locals to share their favourite pictures of where they live for the chance to win some great prizes.

The ‘Love Where You Live’ competition is running to celebrate Northsound 2 becoming the first commercial radio station in Scotland to make the switch to digital from analogue.

Northsound 2 breakfast show presenter Alan Edwards launched the competition at Aberdeen beach, with listeners having until Thursday, May 31, to submit their entries on social media or by emailing them direct to the station.

Alan said: “We know from talking to them on and off air that our listeners are very proud of where they live, so this is the perfect opportunity for them to show us why with photos and win some fabulous prizes in the process.

“With legendary castles, award-winning beaches, stunning shorelines and amazing architecture through to little-known treasures and favourite spots which are off the beaten track, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire offer plenty of reasons for local people to celebrate living here. We’re looking forward to seeing the images that show why our listeners love where they live!”

To take part, entrants need to share their favourite images of the North-east on the Northsound 2 Facebook and Twitter pages using the #NorthsoundLoveLive hashtag before Thursday, May 31. They can also email their photos to social@northsound.co.uk

Prizes include a digital radio courtesy of VQ and PURE, a framed copy of the winning picture and Northsound 1 and 2 goodies, as well as a tour of the Northsound 2 studios and a meet and greet with the station’s presenters.

Listeners can now listen on DAB Digital Radio, online at www.northsound2.com, via the Northsound app and via Smart speakers like Amazon Echo and Google Home.

Digital listening offers a number of key benefits, including hugely improved sound quality, as well as the opportunity to listen anywhere, either online or through an app.

The competition is also running across sister station Northsound 1.
