The Aberdeen Kiltwalk once again proved a highlight in the Northwood Aberdeen calendar, as they completed the 18‑mile Mighty Stride on Sunday in support of CLAN Cancer Support.
The five-strong team walked from Bellfield Park in Banchory to Duthie Park in Aberdeen, completing the route in just under seven hours. Despite sore feet and a few blisters, spirits remained high as they crossed the finish line alongside more than 5,500 participants raising money for over 500 charities across Scotland.
This year, Northwood Aberdeen joined forces with the Scottish Association of Landlords (SAL) as part of the SALtire Squad, a collective effort aiming to take part in all four Kiltwalks across Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The team was proud to walk in aid of leading North-east charity CLAN Cancer Support, which provides emotional, practical and therapeutic support to people affected by a cancer diagnosis. Funds raised also help support CLAN’s accommodation facility in Aberdeen, which offers a vital place to stay for patients and families travelling for treatment at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.
Northwood North‑east Owner and Director Laura Mearns, who also serves on the CLAN Board, said: “The Aberdeen Kiltwalk has become a real highlight in the Northwood calendar, and this year’s event reminded us once again why we keep coming back. The atmosphere along the Deeside Way was incredible, from the volunteers who kept us going, to the passers‑by who cheered, to those who handed out sweets and encouragement when we needed it most.
“We were especially proud to walk for CLAN Cancer Support, a charity that means a great deal to us. CLAN’s work is extraordinary, offering emotional and practical support to people of all ages facing a cancer diagnosis and providing a lifeline for loved ones who need to stay close during treatment.
“I’m incredibly proud of the team for taking on the Mighty Stride as part of the SALtire Squad. Sore feet aside, crossing that finish line knowing the difference these funds will make was worth every step.”
