Date: Friday April 28
Time: 12.00pm - 2.00pm
Venue: Opportunity North East, 11 Queen's Gardens, Aberdeen, AB15 4YD

The future success of North-east Scotland is dependent upon achieving the economic renaissance to deliver a broad and robust business base that offers high quality employment opportunities.
This free event, part of North East Business Week 2017 and organised by private sector economic development body Opportunity North East (ONE), will engage young business people and students from the region’s universities and college in a facilitated discussion on mega trends in business and society and how these will impact on the major industry sectors in the North-east of Scotland.
Attendees will explore the economic challenge facing the region, the renaissance vision for the economy and the diversification strategy to broaden and strengthen our industrial base, including ONE’s priorities for the region’s key industry sectors of food, drink and agriculture; life sciences, oil and gas; and tourism. Actions to achieve high growth entrepreneurial companies and maximise opportunities within the digital economy will also be examined.
Attendees will discuss and consider:
- Which trends will have most impact on the sectors and regional economy?
- How do we maximise the opportunities associated with these trends, what actions should we take and how do we mitigate the risk they may pose?
The outcomes from the discussion will inform the development of future projects and provide the basis for further dialogue with stakeholders.
