One Stop Waste Solutions is set to host local firms to help them prepare for the introduction of the landfill ban later this year.
North-east businesspeople are invited to attend a special event designed to shed light on the impending arrival of the landfill ban where the company’s waste and recycling experts will share practical steps that companies can take to ensure compliance ahead of the new Scottish Government legislation.
From December 31st, 2025, the landfill ban will prevent biodegradable municipal waste being sent to landfill sites across Scotland. It is designed to help the country transition towards a circular economy and meet the targets set out in the Zero Waste Plan by barring all commercial ‘black bag’ and general household waste from landfill.
This means that food, garden waste, paper and cardboard, among other items, need to be directed towards alternative treatments that can also help extract any remaining resource value from residual general waste.
One Stop Waste is supporting fellow north-east businesses by holding a special lunch and learn session at the Bennachie Leisure Centre, Insch.
Craig Donoghue, managing director at One Stop Waste Solutions.
The free-to-attend event, which takes place on Wednesday, May 28th from 11am until 1pm, will also see Fiona Heinonen, CEO of the Bennachie Leisure Centre, explain how businesses can help improve their environmental performance and CSR by working in partnership with the charity.
Business owners and professionals responsible for environmental management can book their place by contacting samantha@onestopwaste.com by May 23rd. The event will also include lunch and opportunities for networking.
Craig Donoghue, managing director at One Stop Waste Solutions, commented: “We’re looking forward to welcoming local businesspeople and having the opportunity to speak with them about improving their existing waste management processes and ensuring they remain compliant ahead of the new legislation.
“Our thanks to Fiona and her team at the Bennachie Leisure Centre for supporting this event and providing an excellent venue, which will provide the ideal setting to educate people about the risks and opportunities presented.
“The clock is ticking until the landfill ban comes into force and the team here at One Stop Waste want to reassure people and make them aware of all the different recycling options. Through this approach, we have helped clients significantly increase their landfill diversion rate, which currently averages at 95%.”
With the landfill ban deadline approaching, One Stop Waste is encouraging businesses to act now by offering tailored advice and services to help improve their waste management systems, reduce costs, and stay compliant with evolving regulations.
