Oteac Fire & Security Ltd (Oteac), part of the Nucore Group, was delighted to welcome 16 pupils from local North East schools to their Bridge of Don, Aberdeen facilities on September 26 to take part in the Northsound 2018 Energy Schools Challenge.
The schools taking part in the evening’s heat included Harlaw Academy, Northfield Academy, Banchory Academy and Fraserburgh Academy. This year’s challenge comprises of eight rounds of questions, covering topics including the energy industry, entertainment, music and general knowledge. This prestigious tournament gives local young persons an opportunity to showcase their general knowledge and gain an insight into the energy sector.
On Wednesday evening the teams went head-to-head in the quiz-style challenge, with each team performing extremely well in answering some tough questions! A fun evening for the students, with Northsound 1 recording the quiz for broadcasting on Sunday evenings.
This is Oteac’s second year as a sponsor of the Northsound 1 Energy Schools Challenge. Graham Thomson, chief executive of Nucore Group said after the event: “Supporting young people is important to the Nucore Group, and we are pleased to be involved for a second year. The Energy Schools Challenge is a way for students to gain a deeper understanding about the Energy industry, and we hope that by taking part it will foster an interest in the sector which could be a future employer for them.”
