Plans for sixth Granite Expo taking shape

The Editor-in-Chief of Aberdeen Journals will officially open a popular annual business showcase when it returns for its sixth consecutive year this week.

Damian Bates, who is also a Visiting Professor at the city’s Robert Gordon University, will officially open Granite Expo 2016 at the Hilton Treetops Hotel on Thursday, October 27.

The unique annual event, created by Granite PR and managed by Business Plus Scotland, brings together a diverse range of more than 100 business organisations representing many sectors, from locally-based SMEs to global operators with links to the region.

The event will run from 9.30am until 4.30pm. It is free to attend and is billed as a giant day of exhibiting, cross-selling, networking and knowledge sharing.

A popular feature of Granite Expo, this year will see the return of a series of business seminars and topics covered this year will include recycling, heritage, food and drink, education, and entrepreneurship.

Amongst those exhibiting on the day will be official Granite Expo Banking Partner Barclays who will welcome three local business growth success stories to share its exhibition space. In addition will be The Elevator Pavilion which will showcase ten local companies.

The competition to judge the best stand will be judged by local businessmen and entrepreneurs Andy Willox OBE and Professor Charles P. Skene OBE.

Commenting on preparations for Granite Expo 2016, event creator and managing director of Granite PR, Brett Jackson said: “Granite Expo has, once again, received a very warm reception from the North-east business community and we look forward to what promises to be another bumper event.”

Stuart Brown, head of SME Banking for Scotland & Northern Ireland, Barclays, said: “We are committed to helping businesses in the North-east and beyond achieve their ambitions regardless of scale.

“Granite Expo 2016 is a great forum for businesses to share ideas, network and learn from their peers and we are pleased to be the official Banking Partner for this year’s event. On the day we will be offering companies the opportunity to have one-to-one sessions with our team of experts to help address any questions they may have.”

In addition to providing the full spectrum of PR services and staging Granite Expo annually, Aberdeen-based Granite PR is known for creating international networking events such as the now well-established Aberdeen-Houston Gateway and the Aberdeen-Norway Gateway.
