Zack Polanski may have failed to pay council tax on his London houseboat, the Green Party has admitted.

The Green Party leader has come under fire on the issue, with pressure put on him to explain if the Hackney-moored vessel had been his primary residence, which would make it liable for council tax.

Now, the Green Party has told the BBC: "Until relatively recently, Zack was living on a houseboat, which came with its own unique practical circumstances and considerations."

Acknowledging the error and failure to pay council tax, the statement continued: "Zack apologises sincerely for the unintentional mistake.

"He has immediately taken steps to pay any council tax he may be found to owe. For security reasons, we do not comment publicly on Zack's address."

A Times investigation raised the issue of whether the boat had been Polanski's main home, and reported that a local laundrette said it had often done laundry for Polanski and his partner from 2023 to 2025.
