Port of Aberdeen has confirmed it is to cut its workforce, citing a steep drop in oil and gas activity in the North Sea.
The port, which is the UK's oldest business, has began speaking to staff interested in taking voluntary redundancy as it seeks to make a "small reduction in roles".
Bob Sanguinetti, Port of Aberdeen's chief executive, the Press and Journal reports, pointed to a a sharp drop of a quarter in activity levels over the summer peak, and a 10% year-on-year decline.
He said: “We have begun a process to reduce our costs and restructure the organisation in response to sustained lower levels of activity in the port."
It is not known exactly how many jobs will be lost.
