Premier explores charity support for Aberdeen-based air ambulanc

Premier Oil (Premier) has turned on the tap for a £2,500 donation to flow to Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) in support of a new air ambulance based in the North East.

SCAA plans to launch its second life-saving helicopter in Aberdeen by March 2020 as a stablemate for the charity's existing aircraft which has operated out of Perth Airport since 2013.

Together, the two helicopter air ambulances will serve those most seriously ill or injured across the whole of Scotland and its many islands.

Mr Paul Williams, UK Business unit manager with Premier, said the company recognised the vital lifeline offered by air ambulances.

"Premier is proud to support Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance’s (SCAA) fundraising efforts for a second helicopter which will be based in Aberdeen - ideally placed to support the more remote and rural areas of the North and North East of Scotland," he said.

"SCAA provides a vital service to the population of Scotland and their fast response increases significantly a patient’s chance of survival.

"Premier is a FTSE250 exploration and production company with operations in the North Sea, South East Asia, the Falkland Islands and Latin America," explained Paul. "We are committed to operating in a safe and responsible manner and appreciate the huge difference that rescue aircraft can make in fast and effective treatment of illness and injury.

"We are delighted to support this worthwhile cause."

SCAA's director of fundraising, Nick Harvey said it was "tremendous" that Premier had chosen to support its life-saving service.

"Launching our second helicopter in Aberdeen is a big step for the charity and support from companies such as Premier can make a real impact on our fundraising," he said. "The corporate sector sits in a unique position and has the potential to make a significant difference within the communities in which they operate.

"Whether corporately led or staff driven, businesses in Scotland have an opportunity to create lasting, positive impacts through Corporate Social Responsibility engagement and SCAA is extremely grateful to Premier for its initiative and commitment to saving lives in Scotland.”
