Members of the public are invited to help uncover the secrets of St Fittick’s Park at a Nature Open Day this weekend.
Organised by the North East Scotland Biodiversity Partnership (NESBiP) and the Friends of St Fittick’s Park, the event will take place from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 26 July, with visitors welcome to drop in at any time.
The Open Day will include plenty of scheduled activities, walks and workshops, including a BioBlitz – an important undertaking which brings wildlife experts and the public together to find and identify as many species as possible within a set area and amount of time.
NESBiP biodiversity coordinator Abbie Ferrar said: “St Fittick’s Park is an excellent green space with plenty to offer both wildlife experts and the local community.
“We’d love to have as many people as possible joining us for the Nature Open Day, which is sure to be plenty of fun.
“Come along and learn all about the amazing wildlife we have right here in Aberdeen!”
Visitors are invited to join drop-in sessions, covering topics such as bats, grasses and climate action, at the park’s Outdoor Classroom or follow experts on a guided nature walk around the park. Spaces for these walks - which will cover topics such as local heritage, birds and wildflowers - are limited, so please book in advance to secure your space.
