Local, independent corporate finance advisory boutique and AGCC member Quantify Advisors continues its run of success with a further two acquisitions for Hero Brands.
Quantify has a long standing relationship with Hero Brands having worked with them on the strategic investment in German Doner Kebab by True - a US based private equity firm focused on the consumer sector,
Hero Brands, the company behind German Doner Kebab and the Sidemen-backed restaurant chain Sides, made two investments last week in the media and beauty space.
Along with Daily Business, newly-created Hero Media & Entertainment (HM&E) purchased acquired Dundee Press Agency and E News Now, who are the publishers of Scottish Financial News, Scottish Legal News, Irish Legal News, Scottish Construction Now, Scottish Housing News and ScottishNews.com.
This is part of Hero’s buy, build and launch strategy to create a major Scotland-based player in the sector and will be headed by Mark Hollinshead, a former executive at the Daily Record & Sunday Mail, and National World, which previously owned The Scotsman titles.
In addition, Hero Brand has struck a partnership with blow-dry chain Duck & Dry. This will help drive an ambitious expansion programme for Duck & Dry, with plans for 10 new UK stores this year. In recent weeks, the brand has opened sites in Notting Hill’s The Whiteley development and John Lewis Oxford Street. Beauty and wellness represents a new sector for Hero Brands, which operates more than 190 locations globally.
Quantify Advisors provided financial due diligence and buy side support on both deals. Chief Investment Officer of Hero Brands, Salman Siddiqui said “We have now worked with Quantify on three deals to date (1 sell-side, two buy-side), and are about to commence work on a fourth. I think that says it all: they have a very knowledge and experience-based, yet commercial-minded approach to deal diligence. They have always delivered, and have shown flexibility to cope with the often-rapid shifts in timelines and deadlines which are part and parcel of the M&A game. We look forward to a long and fruitful professional relationship with them as they grow their business”
