A quiz night organised by Stronachs LLP has raised £4,800 for Friends of ANCHOR, taking the law firm beyond its target of raising £20,000 for the local charity.
More than 130 guests attended the firm’s event, which took place at Inn at the Park on Thursday, with Colin Slessor of popular TV programme ‘The Mart’ taking on the role of quiz master.
The firm has been fundraising over the past year to support the charity’s efforts in recruiting a world-class cancer research team to the North East of Scotland.
More than £10,000 was raised during a ladies’ afternoon tea party organised by Stronachs last summer, with staff taking part in sporting events including The Anchor Wipeout Challenge, Ride the North, the Garioch half marathon and the Baker Hughes and Run Balmoral 10K races to supplement the funds.
Carol Crowther, partner and chair of Stronachs’ Social & Charities Committee said: “We are extremely pleased to reach our goal of raising £20,000 for Friends of ANCHOR. It’s taken a lot of hard work but it’s been a great privilege to support this inspirational charity and the work it does to help local cancer sufferers and their families.
“We would like to thank everyone who attended our quiz night and all of those who supported us throughout our campaign. Their donations, contributions and generosity have far exceeded our expectations.
“Finally, I’d like to thank the team at Stronachs who have gone above and beyond in their fundraising efforts and worked tirelessly to raise this significant sum to help Friends of ANCHOR deliver much needed services for those affected by cancer throughout the North-east.”
Friends of ANCHOR was set up in 1997 to directly support cancer and haematology patients by committing long-term funding to medical equipment, patient wellbeing and leading cancer research. Every penny donated goes directly to the cause as all of the charity’s running and administration costs are covered by Balmoral Group.
Kirsten Will, development manager at Friends of ANCHOR said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have this level of support from Stronachs. The team have been so passionate in their endeavours to not only raise funds but raise awareness for the cause too. We rely on the generosity of corporates like Stronachs to be able to offer the vital support we do for North-east cancer and haematology patients so we can’t thank them enough for all the fundraising efforts among the team.”
