A race night in Aberdeen has raised more than £2,700 for a North-east charity supporting people living with sensory loss.

The North East Sensory Services (NESS) race night at Aberdeenshire Cricket Club raised £2761.55 to support the charity’s work with children, young people and adults who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind or partially sighted.

The event was hosted by a Aberdeen-based non-profit organisation the Khyber Pass Association (KPA) and brought together supporters, local businesses and members of the community. Guests enjoyed pulley horse racing, raffles, games and fundraising activities throughout the evening.

Funds raised will go towards helping NESS continue to provide practical and emotional support to help people living with sensory loss across the north-east of Scotland.

The charity thanked local businesses and supporters who helped make the evening possible. Race sponsorship was provided by SPEX Ltd, Freeland Freight Services, R&Co Marine Services, Stronachs LLP, Eccosystems and Granite Moto Ltd.

Thanks were also given to Aberdeen Leasing Investments for supporting the prizes, Aberdeen Cricket Club for hosting the event and the Khyber Pass Association for delivering the evening’s racing entertainment.

Emma Welsh, community partnerships coordinator at NESS said: “Events like this show what can happen when a community comes together. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who supported the evening and helped make it a huge success.

“All the money raised will go directly towards NESS supporting people with sensory loss, helping them to become more confident and independent.”
