Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace (Raeburns) has welcomed Daniel Agnew, Mairi Macdonald and Jenny Simpson, who have all begun their traineeships with the firm.
The three found their way into law by very different routes, from a school debating competition to a pandemic that reshaped how one of them saw the profession, a reminder of the different paths that bring people into this career.
Over the next two years, the trio will build the experience and confidence to start their careers in earnest, working across the firm's departments and offices in the North-east.

Meet the new trainees
Daniel Agnew's route into the legal profession started with the Covid-19 pandemic, when legal issues suddenly shaped everyday life. "It piqued my interest in an area I had never considered before, and from there it was something I knew I wanted to pursue," he said. He is looking forward to making a difference in matters that are important to clients, and to learning from experienced colleagues along the way. Away from the office, Daniel plays football for Inverurie Locos in the Highland League.
Mairi Macdonald's interest in law began in the classroom, through mock trials and debating, and was confirmed by work experience shadowing trainees at a local firm. Over the next two years, she is looking forward to learning from experienced teams and building the confidence to contribute to real cases. Outside work, Mairi is a former competitive swimmer and swimming teacher.
Jenny Simpson's route into law was not sparked by one particular moment or inspiration. Growing up, law was a career she was consistently aware of through its presence in the media, and that steady visibility influenced her decision to pursue it. Having finished her DPLP without settling on a specialism, Jenny is looking forward to rotating through departments and pushing herself outside her comfort zone.

Daniel, Mairi and Jenny each bring something different to the firm, and we look forward to supporting them throughout their traineeships.
