Applications for Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace's (Raeburns) 2028 Traineeship are now open.
Matt Fraser, now a solicitor at the firm having started out as a trainee himself, has shared his advice for anyone considering a career in law with the North-east firm.
"As a
former trainee solicitor, I appreciate how important it is to work in an
environment where your contribution is recognised, your development is actively
supported, and you are given genuine opportunities to learn and progress,"
said Matt. "With offices across the North-east of Scotland, Raeburns
offers trainees the opportunity to work closely with clients and solicitors
across a broad range of practice areas."
Trainees
typically rotate across three or four departments over the course of their
traineeship, spending six to eight months in each, gaining experience before
deciding where to specialise. The firm looks for a willingness to learn
alongside strong teamwork, communication and organisational skills.

There is no formal application form. Candidates send a CV and covering letter through the firm's online application portal, with successful applicants invited to a panel interview with three Partners. Interviews for traineeships starting September 2028 will take place in November.
Matt's advice for applicants: take time over the covering letter to explain why Raeburns specifically, include transferable skills from part-time work or hobbies on your CV, and don't worry if you're missing legal experience, it isn't essential.
