Work to improve green space in an Aberdeen community have been recommended to get the go ahead.

A report which will be considered by Aberdeen City Council’s Communities, Housing and Infrastructure committee which meets on January 20 recommends environmental officers begin landscaping green spaces behind residential housing in Seaton.

The report has also recommended improvements and repairs should be carried out to playgrounds in the area, with work due to finish in April (2016).

Aberdeen City Council officers have teamed up with the community group The Seaton Backies Project to provide support as part of wider environmental works in the area.

The Seaton Backies is a volunteer group which has already transformed several parts of Seaton into family-friendly play zones since it was set up in 2012.

The project is being supported with grants of £51,000 each from Aberdeen Greenspace and Aberdeen Forward.

Several washhouses and outbuildings have already been demolished by the council’s Building Services team in preparation for the work.
