Pupils, parents and staff at Robert Gordon's College are delighted to see strong examination results continue at all levels from S4 to S6, with S6 producing a record breaking year of Advanced Higher and also Higher results.
In S6, half of all Advanced Higher Grades were at A (49%) and three quarters (76%) at A or B. A record 62 pupils gained three or more Advanced Higher grades at A in their final year at school. In S5, 8 out of 10 Higher grades achieved A or B (81%), with a similar performance at National 5 in S4 (85% A-B grades).
Head of College, Mr Simon Mills, commented: “These are very strong achievements
which all involved should feel very proud of. Pupils at all levels have worked extremely hard, with the support of their teachers, to achieve highly commendable examination results that will enable them to proceed to a wide range of first class university destinations and courses.
“It is very encouraging to see the extremely broad and strong range of final university destinations awaiting our S6 leavers who have obtained a record set of grades in their Advanced Highers and Highers this year. We send many congratulations to all the pupils who have worked so hard and gained their best results in their examinations this year.”
In their final S6 Year it was excellent to note that three pupils gained all four of their Advanced Highers at A grade, with a record 59 pupils gaining all three Advanced Highers at A grade. Three S6 pupils secured their place at either Oxford or Cambridge, (Biochemistry at Oxford, Computer Science at Cambridge and Chemical Engineering at Cambridge), with a further eight pupils securing places across the UK to study Medicine. Three S6 pupils have gained places at top Musical Theatre academies in London (American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and Emil Dale).
Niamh Foster (S6) said: “I am lucky enough to have achieved the grades to study medicine at the University of Dundee. Medicine is something that I have been interested in for as long as I can remember and I cannot wait to begin.”
Ross Martin (S6) added: “I have worked really hard over the past year and I am so happy that this hard work has paid off. I am looking forward to the great opportunity of studying at Oxford University, which will be a life changing experience. It has been difficult balancing academics and British level Tennis but through hard work I have achieved my goals.”
Nina Hounsome (S6) shared: “I am overjoyed with my results. Going to study veterinary medicine has been a lifelong ambition of mine and to finally achieve this is a dream!”
