Robert Gordon’s College (RGC) has appointed Mrs Stacey Hardie as its new Director of Sport, as the school embarks on an ambitious new chapter and launches a £3million Campaign for Sport.
Mrs Hardie
took up her new role on 1 August 2026 and will play a central role in shaping
and delivering the College’s vision for the future of sport, building on RGC’s
strong sporting heritage and expanding opportunities for pupils across a wide
range of disciplines.
The
appointment represents an important development for RGC as the College
continues to grow its sporting provision, with increased participation, a
broader range of programmes and growing aspirations among its pupils.
Mrs Hardie
brings extensive experience within RGC, having previously served as Head of
Physical Education and, more recently, Head of S1. Her knowledge of the College
and its pupils, alongside her pastoral and educational leadership experience,
will support her in leading the next phase of RGC’s sports strategy.
A former
international netball player, Mrs Hardie also brings significant sporting
experience and a first-hand understanding of the role sport can play in
developing young people. In her new position, she will focus on increasing
participation, supporting sporting excellence and creating opportunities for
pupils to develop through a broad range of sports and performance pathways.
Mrs Stacey
Hardie, Director of Sport, said: “I am honoured to take on the role of Director
of Sport and look forward to working closely with pupils, staff and parents to
continue placing Health and Wellbeing at the heart of our values. Our PE and
Sport pathway is about every pupil, at every stage and on every journey,
providing opportunities to develop physical literacy, confidence and
fundamental movement skills through participation, competition and performance,
reflecting their individual interests, abilities and aspirations. Ultimately,
we want to inspire every pupil to enjoy being active, achieve their personal
goals and develop a lifelong connection with physical activity and sport.”
The
appointment comes alongside the launch of RGC’s new £3 million Campaign for
Sport, which will support investment in facilities, programmes, coaching and
sporting opportunities across the College.
Mrs Stacey Hardie
A major focus of the campaign will be the development of the Countesswells Sports Campus, alongside investment in athletic development and the continued strengthening of sports programmes across RGC.
The scale of the investment highlights the College’s commitment to developing a high-quality sporting environment for pupils and creating long-term opportunities for young people in Aberdeen and the surrounding area.
Mrs Clare Smith, Head of Senior School, added: “We are delighted to welcome Mrs Hardie to the role of Director of Sport. She brings a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of RGC and a genuine passion for supporting young people through sport. Stacey takes on the role at an exciting time for the College, as we build on the strong foundations already in place and continue to invest in our sporting provision. We look forward to seeing her bring her expertise and vision to this next phase, ensuring that sport continues to be an important and enriching part of the RGC experience for every pupil.”
Mr Robin Macpherson, Head of College, added: “This is a very exciting time for sport at RGC, as we are incredibly ambitious. The College’s vision is to create an outstanding sporting environment where every pupil can participate, develop and perform, while discovering the benefits of fitness for life. Mrs Hardie will play a key role in shaping the future sports strategy and ensuring that this investment creates meaningful opportunities for pupils, and strengthens the sporting experience for generations to come. We look forward to seeing Mrs Hardie lead the next chapter of sport at RGC and to sharing more of our plans for the future in the months ahead.”
For the Aberdeen business and wider community, RGC’s investment represents a significant commitment to the city’s future sporting landscape, supporting the development of young people while contributing to the continued growth of sport, education and wellbeing across the region.
