Andrew Martin, Director of the Scottish Centre for Tourism at Robert Gordon University (RGU), has been reappointed for a second term as vice-chair of Aberdeen Hotel Association.
Andrew, working in RGU’s School of Creative and Cultural Business, has been involved in promoting regional tourism issues across the region for a number of years. As the Association’s vice-chair for the past year he was heavily involved in the debate around the proposed tourism levy, and developing the regional approach to non-domestic rates.
“The School’s close working relationship and role in helping lead the development of the region’s tourism and cultural agenda brings valuable benefits to both the university and the tourism and hospitality sectors,” said Andrew. “We have access to key regional stakeholders who help us develop live projects for our students, who work with our honours level students on research projects and who visit us as guest lecturers. They also support annual award events by providing keynote speakers and generous prizes for our students.
“In return, the AHA can tap into our university resources for support on regional challenges such as management development, marketing initiatives and developing the tourism workforce of the future and many of our graduates are employed in various roles in AHA organisations.”
