RGU and Pinsent Masons to host business breakfast in Houston

Robert Gordon University (RGU) has teamed up with international law firm Pinsent Masons to host an event for business leaders ahead of the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC).

Taking place on Friday, April 28 in Houston, Texas, the jointly-hosted business breakfast will provide an insight on creating a knowledge economy for the global energy industry and will discuss the current issues facing the sector.

The event will feature expert speakers including the Principal of RGU, Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski, and Bob Ruddiman, partner and global sector head of energy at Pinsent Masons, and will provide delegates with a networking opportunity ahead of the flagship OTC.

Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski, says: “RGU enjoys close links with industry and we are keen to support and offer networking opportunities to all alumni and our current distance learning students based overseas.

“The oil and gas industry binds Aberdeen to Houston with many organisations operating in both cities and many of their employees crossing from one to the other and back again. Despite our differing accents, we speak the same language and share expertise.

“I am very much looking forward to this opportunity to meet with industry leaders, many of whom will be RGU alumni, ahead of OTC to share my insight into how we can leverage the expertise across our energy cities to create a global knowledge economy for the oil and gas industry.”

Martin Ewan, partner at Pinsent Masons, who is chairing the event, said: ““The RGU alumni community in Houston maintains strong business and personal links both with Aberdeen and more broadly across the globe, especially through the oil industry.

“Our firm is delighted to continue its support of RGU with the OTC business breakfast, which is an opportunity to meet and refresh relationships.”

The business breakfast will be held in the Richmond Room at the Hilton Houston Post Oak from 7.15am to 9am. To register for the event or for more information, please email rgufoundation@rgu.ac.uk or call 01224 262005.
