Robert Gordon University (RGU) is strengthening its commitment to champion and empower female leadership within Scotland’s construction and built environment sectors, as it prepares to host Joining the Dots: Women’s Leadership in Architecture and the Built Environment.

The pilot workshop, taking place on November 27 from 10am to 1pm in the Sir Ian Wood Building at RGU, marks the first in a new series of initiatives designed to strengthen the future workforce and ensure Scotland has the talent needed to meet its ambitious infrastructure goals.

This first Joining the Dots event is an inspiring and interactive session tailored for women pursuing careers in architecture, construction and the wider built environment. Participants will explore leadership, develop essential skills and gain practical insights to advance their professional growth.

But this is more than just a training session, it’s a space to connect, collaborate and create community. The event will bring together women from across the industry to share experiences, exchange ideas and build networks that support their leadership journeys at every stage of career progression.

A highlight of the programme will be contributions from Karen Anderson, President of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS), who will deliver insights on leadership and take part in a thought-provoking roundtable discussion.

With attendance limited, the workshop is designed to foster meaningful engagement, open discussion, and knowledge sharing among professionals at all levels. Lessons learned from this inaugural event will directly inform future sessions in the Joining the Dots series.
