RGU’s Fashion and Textiles course awarded British Fashion Council membership

The Fashion & Textile Design course at Robert Gordon University’s (RGU) Gray’s School of Art has been officially awarded membership of the British Fashion Council (BFC) and is now a member of the British Fashion Council Colleges Council.

The BFC Colleges Council is a membership programme that represents the leading fashion departments in universities and colleges throughout the UK.

The school is now one of only three in Scotland which has been awarded membership and it means graduates from the course will benefit from the close association with the country’s foremost fashion institution.

Josie Steed, head of fashion & textile design at Gray’s, said: "This endorsement of Gray's Fashion Design course by the BFC is highly prestigious and is a recognition of the innovation and exacting industry and employability standards that are central to the ethos of our course.

“We are thrilled to have such a major acknowledgement of our hard work and to be so closely aligned with the UK's top Fashion Design courses."

The Fashion and Textile Design course at Gray’s recently ranked 1st in Scotland for employment after graduation after six months in the Guardian University League Tables 2018, and this latest award further improves on the close links with industry.

Founded in 1993 to create an interface between education and industry, the BFC organises a series of events and competitions throughout the academic year to offer students and course leaders the opportunity to interact with the industry, gaining invaluable insight and experience in the process.
