Networking meets nature this November with a new Netwalking event — an opportunity to connect with local professionals while exploring one of Scotland’s most fascinating natural stories: the life of the Atlantic salmon.

The ‘Riverside Walk: The Life of the Atlantic Salmon’ will take place along the banks of the River Dee on Wednesday 12th November, hosted by Ken Reid, business development manager at ITWORX UK, and assisted by Robert Harper.

This guided walk combines fresh air, informal networking, and insight into one of Scotland’s most iconic species. Attendees will learn about the salmon’s remarkable life cycle — from eggs laid in clean, gravel beds to their epic migration across the North Atlantic and eventual return to their home rivers to spawn.

But this isn’t just a lesson in ecology; it’s a reminder of how interconnected Scotland’s natural systems and communities are. The salmon is a keystone species, supporting everything from otters and ospreys to freshwater mussels that help keep rivers clean. Its decline, driven by climate change, pollution, and habitat loss, signals that Scotland’s river ecosystems are under growing pressure.

By taking part in this event, attendees will enjoy a relaxed morning of conversation, connection, and reflection on how sustainability and business can go hand in hand.

Ken Reid explained: “Netwalking is a great way to build genuine business relationships — without a PowerPoint in sight. The salmon story is a perfect backdrop for discussions about resilience, connection, and regeneration — both in nature and in business.”

With strong early engagement and a great number already planning to attend, this promises to be an inspiring and memorable morning by the River Dee.
