Aberdeen Lifeboat Station gratefully received a donation of £220 today from generous staff at Fugro in Aberdeen.
Fugro project manager James Hogg suggested to colleagues that they bring home-cooked savouries to work one day to sell to workmates at lunchtime – and the event raised an impressive £220 for the RNLI in Aberdeen.
James Hogg said: “Fugro operates around 40 vessels in various offshore projects worldwide, with a significant number of them operating in UK waters. It’s a matter of pride and conscience for us to support the RNLI in their work of saving lives at sea.”
Calum Reed, Deputy 2nd Coxswain and Mechanic at Aberdeen Lifeboat, received the cheque and said: “Fugro are regular supporters of the RNLI. We are especially appreciative of this donation as it came from fundraising work by their staff.”
Aberdeen Lifeboat Station is one of Scotland’s busiest. Their most recent rescue, two weeks ago, saw three young women rescued from paddleboards off Aberdeen beach, where a gale force offshore wind was blowing them uncontrollably out to sea.
