Road and travel guidance as the Great Aberdeen Run returns

Thousands of people will visit the heart of Aberdeen on Sunday, August 25 to celebrate the return of the Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run to the city.

As participants and spectators gear up for a full programme of activities - including the family run, 10k and half marathon - the run routes will see Aberdeen transformed into a circuit taking in the city centre, Old Aberdeen, Seaton Park, Bridge of Don and beach areas.

Road closures will be in place to ensure safe delivery of the event and there will be a number of parking restrictions around the route as well as closures and restrictions at a number of car parks. A full list of these can be found at: https://www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/services/leisure-culture-and-parks/services/leisure-culture-and-parks/great-aberdeen-run/great-aberdeen-run-getting-around-aberdeen .

Businesses and residents along the route have received letters and guidance advising them of restrictions in a bid to minimise the impact of the event.

An Aberdeen City Council spokesperson said: “We are delighted to welcome the Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run back to the city. We want to ensure any impact on Sunday is kept to a minimum and that those on the route have the necessary information to plan for the day. We advise anyone who needs to travel around Aberdeen on August 25 to check routes prior to setting out and plan journeys in advance.”
