Rock Flow Dynamics has become the latest business to take space in Aurora Aberdeen – the landmark office complex which will bring 500 workers into the city centre once fully let.

The SRE Group has transformed the former Caledonian House at the corner of Union Street and Union Row into Aurora Aberdeen, a £5million redevelopment delivering 43,750 square feet of modern, flexible Grade A office space.

The investment is part of a wider effort to repopulate the city centre and revitalise Union Street - attracting high-value jobs, talent and innovation back into the heart of Aberdeen.

Rock Flow Dynamics will move into the fourth floor of the building, taking a suite extending to 3,670 sq ft. The space will be fitted out by The SRE Group to provide a bespoke, turnkey solution tailored to the company’s needs.

Its arrival marks another significant milestone for the project and makes them Aurora’s largest occupier to date.

Scott Harrison, Director at Rock Flow Dynamics, said: “Aberdeen has been at the heart of our business for a decade, and we are delighted to be moving into Aurora.

“This is a space that matches our ambition and provides a first-class environment for our people and clients. Union Street is changing for the better, and we are proud to be playing our part in its regeneration.”

Established in Aberdeen in 2015, Rock Flow Dynamics has grown into a world leader in reservoir simulation technology and services. Its flagship software is used internationally by energy companies to maximise the value of their assets, and the company continues to build on its strong Aberdeen foundations.

The move into Aurora reflects both their long-term commitment to the city and their belief in the future of Union Street as a thriving business hub.

Aurora has already attracted a diverse mix of tenants. Climate tech venture studio Ventex was the first to move in, followed by its portfolio company Rahd.AI, which is creating 30 new technology jobs in the city as part of its growth.

More recently, strategic communications consultancy True North Advisors and global manpower provider NES Fircroft have chosen the development as their new base.

The addition of Rock Flow Dynamics brings together five dynamic businesses under one roof, showcasing the breadth of expertise and innovation that Aurora is designed to foster.

Together, these organisations represent hundreds of high-value roles that will breathe new life into Union Street and provide a tangible signal of Aberdeen’s ongoing transformation.

John Grewar, Director at The SRE Group, added: “Rock Flow Dynamics is a world-class company with strong Aberdeen roots, and we are thrilled to welcome them as Aurora’s largest tenant to date.

“Their decision to invest in Union Street is another clear signal of growing confidence in the city centre. Aurora is filling up with organisations that want to be part of Aberdeen’s next chapter – and we look forward to adding more names soon.

“We want this development to be seen as an important element of the city’s regeneration story – turning an empty building into a vibrant business hub and creating an environment that supports collaboration, investment and growth.”

Rock Flow Dynamics was represented in the transaction by Dom Millar of CBRE, while The SRE Group was represented by Iain Landsman of Hutcheon Mearns Real Estate and Arron Finnie and Scott Farquharson of Ryden.

Additional space is still available, and The SRE Group is encouraging other forward-looking businesses to join the growing cluster of innovators choosing Aurora as their base.
