In response to ongoing company growth and an increasing volume of engineered lifting and mechanical handling projects, Safelift Offshore Ltd has announced the opening of a new full‑time position for a technical author.

The company, known for its specialised offshore equipment and commitment to technical integrity, confirmed that the role will strengthen its documentation and project support capabilities.

According to Safelift, the technical author will join a close‑knit team responsible for ensuring that all technical documentation aligns with company standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The role has been described as “hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and integral to successful project delivery".

Company representatives explained that the new recruit will produce and maintain a wide range of technical materials, including test procedures, data sheets, compliance documents, certification packs, quality plans, and full project dossiers.

The position also requires daily coordination with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to gather and validate information.

Safelift confirmed that the successful candidate will act as a key point of contact for documentation queries both internally and externally, while also contributing to improvements in documentation templates and control processes. Ensuring the timely delivery of final document packages to clients remains a core expectation of the job.

The company outlined several essential requirements for applicants, including a minimum of two years’ experience in technical documentation, project engineering, or document control within the offshore, oil and gas, or engineering sectors. Proficiency in Microsoft Office - particularly Word and Excel - along with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, is considered vital.

Strong communication skills, self‑motivation, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously were highlighted as additional attributes. A solid understanding of engineering documentation types was also listed as a requirement.

Safelift noted a number of desirable qualifications, including familiarity with ISO 10855, BS EN 12079, and DNV 2.7‑1 standards, as well as general knowledge of lifting, crane, or mechanical handling equipment. An HNC/HND or equivalent in engineering or technical communication would also benefit applicants.

The vacancy is based at the company’s Kemnay facility, with the successful candidate expected to work on‑site Monday to Friday. Benefits include a company pension scheme and on‑site parking.

Safelift Offshore Ltd emphasised that this role is ideal for an individual who enjoys working across departments, takes ownership of technical accuracy, and thrives in a structured but fast‑paced project environment.
