Leading inspection, lifting and manual handling provider, Safelift, is pleased to announce that The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA), has renewed its contract to carry out lifting equipment inspections at the venue for an additional three years.

Combined with a new contract win for Safelift’s Offshore division, this is worth over £800,000 in revenue for the firm.

The well-established collaboration began in 2018 at the former AECC venue in Bridge of Don, which has since been replaced by the state-of-the-art TECA facility in Bucksburn.

Since the venue’s inception, Aberdeenshire-based Safelift has played a vital role in ensuring the safety and compliance of TECA, one of the largest and most advanced event complexes of its kind in Scotland. The renewed contract covers biannual inspections of more than 2,500 items of loose lifting equipment, height safety systems, electric-powered hoists, trusses and associated rigging. In addition, Safelift will carry out annual testing and maintenance of the site’s 154 powered hoists, ensuring they meet stringent safety and performance standards.

“Our team takes great pride in the long-standing relationship we have established with TECA,” said Brendan Murison of Safelift. “This renewal reflects the trust placed in our expertise, dependable service and ability to respond rapidly to our clients' needs.

“We have developed an agile, customer-focused structure, which enables us to provide quick and reliable responses in urgent situations, where safety is paramount. We have also invested heavily in cutting-edge digital solutions, including RFID technology which can reduce inspection times by up to 50%, and a flexible client portal that supports both paper and paperless certification preferences.”

Steve Morrison, Deputy Operations Technical Manager at P&J Live commented: “We are thrilled to announce Safelift as our Lifting Inspection partners for another 3 years. As a responsive local provider, Safelift prioritises flexibility to keep pace with the dynamic nature of the entertainment industry – conducting inspections in our suites and halls at times that best suit our evolving schedule. This, coupled with their excellent technicians, who work alongside the in-house team, ensures that downtime is kept to a minimum.”

Safelift’s inspection team is made up of multi-skilled engineers, all highly qualified to industry standards including LEEA, API, CFTS, PCN, and SNT, each bringing 15 to 20+ years of experience to the role.

Despite industry-wide challenges, Safelift has continued to expand, adding two new members to its inspection team this year alone, bringing the headcount to 36.

In addition to its continued success at TECA, Safelift have recently secured several significant new contracts both locally and internationally, including a newly awarded energy project in Uganda, Africa, set to be delivered in the coming months. The company is also in negotiations to secure one of the largest renewable energy contracts in Safelift’s history.

Over the past year, the Kemnay-based firm has invested around £1million in enhancing its facilities and expanding its team, positioning the company to deliver on increasingly large-scale projects.

A major milestone in this growth will be the upcoming launch of Safelift’s new, state-of-the-art fabrication facility. Scheduled to open this week, the facility is expected to unlock significant opportunities in the offshore wind and wider renewables sectors. The new facility’s bespoke design will offer a solutions-led layout for these projects as well as increased usable space within the original facility.

Safelift Offshore MD, Steven Simpson, said: “With over 30 years of experience, our team applies their wealth of knowledge and expertise to devising safe solutions and improving daily operations. We go beyond manufacturing to deliver a complete wrap-around service, recommending, providing and procuring equipment that enhances safety, drives projects forward and extends both the lifespan and reliability of equipment.

“That same ethos applies across all of our divisions, and we are thrilled to see this dedication to providing tailored solutions to our clients – both onshore and offshore – consolidating our already strong reputation and securing a growing number of contract wins and extensions.”
