School pupils win competition to name Bancon homes’ latest house style

School pupils have won a competition to name a Bancon Homes’ house type after their school.

The youngsters suggested Fernielea in honour of their school, Fernielea Primary.

Primary 5 pupils Rebeckah Bruce and Aaron Gibb won the competition, having both chosen their school’s name, and will split the prize of a £50 Amazon voucher between them.

Bancon Homes’ design manager Bob Macarthur, who designed the Fernielea house style, and marketing manager Julie Goddard visited the school to congratulate all pupils on their efforts and to present pupils with their prizes.

A class of pupils from Fernielea Primary were given the opportunity to name a new house style for the next phase of the development after visiting the nearby Eden and The Reserve at Eden development in the summer.

The visit consisted of a tour of the houses and adjacent nature reserve as part of a lesson about construction and design, and the youngsters were able to find out what materials are used to build a new home and how they are constructed.

In addition to learning about the industry, the tour highlighted a safe route to school through the Den of Maidencraig, which was developed by Bancon Homes.

Competition winner Rebeckah said: “I chose Fernielea because it was great fun when we went to visit.”

Aaron opted for Fernielea as he liked the connection to his school.

The Reserve at Eden offers a range of two, three and four-bedroom, energy efficient homes, many of which have views over the nature reserve.

The new Fernielea house style will be available in late 2019.

This spacious three-bedroom home is perfect for couples and young families. The house boasts a bright, airy garden room with French doors leading outside, a generous living room and a guest cloakroom with additional storage leading off the spacious hall.

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms with built in oak foil wardrobes. The family bathroom has a contemporary white sanitary ware and a choice of Porcelanosa tiling. There is also a linen cupboard on the landing for optimum storage.

Jo Skinner, sales and marketing director at Bancon Homes’, said: “The competition was a fantastic way of involving the local school with The Reserve at Eden.

We chose ‘Fernielea’ as the new name for our latest house style because we felt it represented the development’s connection to the community.

“The pupils came up with some brilliant ideas which helped incorporate the local area and we were all very impressed with their suggestions.

Situated off the A944 Aberdeen to Westhill road, the development has proved popular with buyers keen to take advantage of the rural setting which also boasts easy access to the city centre.

Prices currently start at £374,995 at The Reserve at Eden and £129,995 at Eden.

For more information and to visit the show home, the sales and information office is open daily from 10am to 5pm, Thursday to Monday.
