Potatoes in Practice, Scotland’s premier outdoor potato event, returns on Thursday 13th August 2026 at The James Hutton Institute’s Balruddery Farm in Invergowrie, near Dundee.
Potatoes in Practice is hosted by the Hutton, through the National Potato Innovation Centre (NPIC), in partnership with SRUC, and Agrii and is a must-visit for all those in the potato industry.
This year’s theme is Future proofing the potato industry so expect seminars that cover the key pressing issues facing the sector, such as bruising, viruses, the latest research on PCN, sustainability, and Scottish Government’s science strategy.
As always there will be the chance to get up to date with the latest developments in the potato industry through a variety of demonstrations, cutting-edge research, trade exhibits and a wealth of knowledge from experts in the field, as well as valuable networking opportunities.
Field plots and spaces for a moving machine demonstration can now be reserved, using the booking form. Forms, including field plot treatment forms, (one per plot), must be submitted by Friday 27th February.
Outdoor gazebo and static machinery spaces should be booked by Friday, 1st May, using the booking form.
