STV has announced that Saturday's Guinness Men's Six Nations game between Scotland and England delivered its biggest overnight audience in a year, with a peak audience of 744k watching Scotland's spectacular Calcutta Cup win live on STV.

It was the broadcaster's biggest overnight audience of 2026 so far and the largest since last year's Calcutta Cup, which took place on 22 February 2025.

This year's match had an average audience of 564k and a viewing share of 49%, with the audience peaking at 744k in the 78th minute as Scotland sewed up its biggest Calcutta Cup win in eight years at Murrayfield.

On STV Player, the game received 189k live streams, a +7% increase on last year's equivalent match.

STV is set to air six more games in the 2026 Guinness Men's Six Nations, including Scotland's final game, against Ireland in Dublin, on 14 March.

Richard Williams, MD of Audience at STV, said: "Saturday's Calcutta Cup match was absolutely stunning for Scotland and it's fantastic that so many viewers joined us to watch all the action live from Murrayfield on STV and STV Player. We're delighted to bring the nation together for major sporting events like this and the Calcutta Cup was just the start — we've got the rest of this year's Six Nations and the small matter of Scotland at the FIFA World Cup all to come in 2026."
