Aberdeen FC Women is proud to announce Scottish Brain Sciences (SBS) as a new Official Women’s Team Partner.
This exciting new collaboration will see Scottish Brain Sciences (SBS) branding proudly feature on the top of the back of the AFC Women’s first team jerseys for the forthcoming season.
The partnership marks another important milestone for the women’s team, as SBS joins the wider Aberdeen FC partnership family to help enable the continued growth of women’s football in the North-east.
SBS is a Scotland-based organisation leading the way in research to improve brain health and find new treatments for conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. By supporting Aberdeen FC Women, SBS is showing its commitment to championing equality in sport while also raising awareness of opportunities for people in Aberdeen to get involved in world-leading clinical research.
As part of the partnership, SBS will also be highlighting the opportunity for people in Aberdeen and the North-east to participate in clinical research studies that are shaping the future of brain health. By taking part, members of the public can contribute directly to research efforts aimed at finding faster, more effective interventions for conditions that impact millions of families worldwide.
Gary Herbert, business development manager at Aberdeen FC, said: “We are delighted to welcome Scottish Brain Sciences as a new partner of the club, and a key sponsor of our women’s team.
“This marks the start of an exciting, forward-thinking collaboration that aligns perfectly with our wider club values. Player performance and welfare is of paramount importance to us and working alongside Scottish Brain Sciences we want to play our part in helping them to advance their research in this area.
“We look forward to working together to continue to raise the profile of the women’s game and to champion the vital work being done in brain research in Scotland."
Professor Craig Ritchie, chief executive and founder of Scottish Brain Sciences, added: “Football is about passion, teamwork and community – values that are also at the heart of what we do at SBS. We’re proud to support Aberdeen FC Women on the next stage of their journey. At the same time, we hope to shine a light on brain health and encourage people in Aberdeen to take part in our research, which could help change the future for families affected by brain diseases.”
The sponsorship will see SBS’s branding feature on the back of the women’s team shirts throughout the 2025/26 campaign, with joint community activities planned to highlight the importance of both women’s sport and brain health research.
