Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce members are being offered the chance to take part in two public sessions looking at the 2018/19 Scottish Budget processes and priorities.

The outreach services team of the Parliament will be holding two public meetings as follows:

Date: Tuesday, January 9 and Thursday, January 11

Time: Both seessions will be held between 6-8pm

Location: Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, Beach Boulevard, Aberdeen

These meetings will take the form of informal, friendly workshops ahead of the Scottish Parliament's Finance & Constitution Committee is meeting in Aberdeen on Monday, January 15 during which MSPs will take evidence from the cabinet secretary for finance and the constitution, Derek McKay MSP on the Scottish Government’s draft budget for 2018/19.

The public meetings will cover the budget process, and consider the spending priorities of the Scottish Government. In particular, they are keen to gather opinions on what local communities in-and-around Aberdeen feel should be the Scottish Government’s funding priorities in the upcoming financial year. These issues will be captured and fed back to the committee in advance of its formal meeting in Aberdeen the following week.

Importantly, this isn’t a party-political meeting or hustings. Rather, this is an excellent opportunity to learn about the Scottish Parliament's role in scrutinising the Scottish Government’s spending plans and in holding Scottish ministers to account.

The meetings are completely free of charge to attend and a light supper of soup and sandwiches will be provided.

Places are limited to thirty for each evening and must be confirmed in advance. If anyone is interested in attending, please contact:

Paul Anderson, community outreach manager on paul.anderson@parliament.scot or Tel: 0131 348 5357.
