Glasgow MSP Pam Duncan-Glancy has been suspended by Scottish Labour over her ties with a convicted sex offender.

She stood down as the party’s education spokesperson in December when her friendship with former Moray councillor Sean Morton became public.

She said she would quit the Scottish Parliament in May admitting a "serious error of personal judgement" after she maintained contact with Morton following his conviction in 2017.

Her suspension comes shortly after Sir Keir Starmer's former communications director, Matthew Doyle, was also suspended by the party for links to Morton.

Morton was jailed in January last year after pleading guilty to possessing indecent photographs of children and breaching his sexual offences order. He was given two 16-month sentences, backdated to May 2024.

A Scottish Labour spokesperson said: “All complaints are assessed thoroughly in line with our rules and procedures.”
