Trad Supergroup Session A9 are headed for St Margaret's Braemar on Friday, November 11.

Former winners of “Best Live Act” at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards, the band promise to raise the roof bringing their original compositions and exciting arrangements to life with trademark skill, fire and enthusiasm.

The seven-strong ensemble comprises some of Scotland’s top musical talent, including fiddlers Kevin Henderson, Adam Sutherland and Charlie Mckerron. They are joined by percussionist David Robertson, Marc Clement on guitar and vocals and Brian McAlpine on piano.

Session A9 take their name from the main arterial road linking the central belt to the Highlands, with their inspiration spanning all of Scotland’s musical traditions, besides North American and Scandinavian influences.

The band has toured widely across Europe and the USA, including performances at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Street Party, Cambridge Folk Festival, Celtic Connections and Glastonbury.

Looking forward to their upcoming show at St Margaret’s, the former Deeside church-turned-arts-centre, Venue Manager Lyndsey Boden said: “This has been such an exciting year for us, with a packed and varied programme of live music helping establish St Margaret’s as a must-play venue on the touring circuit.

“We’re delighted to welcome Session A9 here for the very first time.

“Over the past two decades they’ve become one of Scotland’s best known bands — constantly innovating and reimagining trad music, keeping their sound cutting-edge and audiences enthralled.

“This will be our very last ‘big gig’ of the year before our winter festival in early December. Tickets are selling fast, so be sure to grab yours now to avoid disappointment.

“Planning is well underway for 2023 — with music, literary talks, exhibitions and festivals all in the works. So keep your eyes peeled for more programme announcements coming very soon!”
