The kind-hearted organisers behind local Sessions Beer & Gin Festival have extended the annual two-day event, with a third day being added and dedicated to families for the first time, whilst benefitting a local charity. The addition of the Sunday date will support a local children’s charity with proceeds from the day being donated to Charlie House, which supports babies, children and young people with complex disabilities and life-limiting conditions in the North-east of Scotland.
Sessions Festival enjoyed its inaugural event in 2017 and expects to welcome up to 4,000 people over the Summer weekend this August.
Sessions is a three-day gathering which includes craft drinks, street food and live music and will be held at Aberdeen’s Hazlehead Park between Friday and Sunday, August 3 to 5.
Children and families can join in the fun with various activities which will include face painting, glitter tattoos and entertainment from Love Rara as well as an acoustic set from local band The Little Kicks.
Susan Crighton, director of fundraising for Charlie House, says, “When Wil approached us with the idea we were so grateful. They had listened to feedback from last year’s inaugural event and wanted to make this year’s festival accessible to the whole city and Shire, which is absolutely what we strive for with the families we support. As a charity we do our utmost for inclusion and support for the families who use our services and to have a high-profile event with the same ethos and vision is wonderful. We are excited to be part of the final day of festival fun.”
Sessions’ co-founder Wil Aitken says, “We have made the additional Sunday Session family day fully accessible for all families. We have dedicated disabled parking close to the venue and a mobile changing unit for families with disabled children. We want it to be as inclusive and fun as possible for all and would love to raise a substantial amount for Charlie House. It is such a deserving charity and the services it provides to children and families in the North-east of Scotland are invaluable.
