Entering its fourth successful year, Aberdeen City Council once again will be hosting a one-day free youth recruitment event to promote training, apprenticeships and employment opportunities for those recently left or soon to leave full time education.

The “Moving On” youth recruitment event is organised in partnership with Skills Development Scotland and is open to young people and their parents wishing to learn more about post-school employment and vocational education opportunities available in the city.

The 2016 event led to 54 individuals obtaining apprenticeships. Confirmed exhibitors for this year’s event include Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen Sports Village, British Army, Entier, HSBC, Scotia Homes and SHMU. All will be on hand to showcase numerous vacancies, apprenticeships and training opportunities available that attendees can apply for on the day.

Aberdeen City Council Communities, Housing and Infrastructure vice-convener Councillor Gordon Graham said: "The “Moving On” youth recruitment event is a great opportunity for the young people in our city, as the future generation of the region I encourage attendance as the wealth of opportunities is outstanding.

“Aberdeen is currently on a very exciting transformational journey and the Council along with local organisations look forward to shaping the workforce of the future and adding to the region economy.”

Professionals will also be on hand to give advice on training and career choices for those not yet ready to enter employment.

The event, which is being held at Aberdeen Town House, Town and County Hall, on Thursday March 30 from 12.30pm to 7pm, is part of Aberdeen Guarantees, a partnership initiative led by Aberdeen City Council aimed at improving opportunities for 14-25 year olds.
