Shoppers’ spirit raises staggering £26,000 for North-east charity

Across the festive period shoppers of Bon Accord and St Nicholas raised an astounding total of £26,000 for CLAN Cancer Support by visiting Santa’s Winter Wonderland.

During Santa’s stay he met more than 2,000 boys and girls from across the North-east of Scotland who all had the chance to tell him their special Christmas wishes before the big day.

Kind hearted volunteers racked up more than 550 hours helping Santa and bringing in the funds for CLAN.

Craig Stevenson, centre manager, said: “We would like to say a big thank you all of our shoppers for their generosity over the festive period. The total raised by visitors to our Winter Wonderland is phenomenal.

“We hope all the boys and girls and their families and friends enjoyed visiting Father Christmas and well done to all for raising a fantastic amount for CLAN - the North East certainly embraced the spirit of giving this Christmas.”

Dr Colette Backwell, chief executive of CLAN, said: “CLAN has a strong relationship with Bon Accord & St Nicholas and we would like to thank everyone involved for their continued support, particularly during the festive period.

“It was lovely to see so many families enjoying Santa’s Winter Wonderland and we are absolutely delighted to have raised £26,000, which will make such a difference to CLAN. Support, such as this from the Bon Accord team and customers, is essential to CLAN and allows us to continue our work in the heart of communities across the north-east of Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.

“I was delighted to visit Santa with my three year-old granddaughter and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”
