Sign up now for last remaining places in the Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Family Run

The last few places in the Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Family Run are being rapidly snapped up with less than 50 spots remaining for the exciting one mile event to be held over a traffic-free circuit of the city centre, on Sunday, August 26.

The run starts on Union Street, one of the most iconic shopping thoroughfares in the country, and follows an attractive route along Back Wynd, Schoolhill, Rosemount Viaduct, Skene Street, and Summer Street before finishing in front of the Music Hall.

Youngsters can experience the thrill of running along Union Street with the encouraging cheers from thousands of enthusiastic spectators reverberating off the granite buildings to create a wave of noise and a wonderfully vibrant atmosphere.

The smiles on the faces of the youngsters as they completed last year’s inaugural event, many with their family and friends alongside them, leaves a lasting impression and will be a moment they will never forget. For some it might just spark a life-long interest in running.

It’s all part of an action packed day of exciting running events in and around the city, including a number of Scotland’s top international runners taking part in the Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run 10km and half marathon adult races.

The 10km and half marathon courses are also traffic-free and take in many of the city's key historic landmarks such as Marischal College, Castlegate, the Beach Ballroom and Brig O’Balgownie. The half marathon includes a new section through the beautiful Seaton Park.

The Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Family Run is open to everyone aged from 3-16. Those aged 3-8 should be accompanied by an adult while those aged nine and over can run alone. Everyone aged 16 and under should, however, be accompanied to the event by an adult.

Entries for the half marathon distance will close on Monday, August 13, at 1pm.
