As the official video partners for The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen 2025, Signal played a central role in capturing the spirit and scale of the UK’s largest maritime festival of the year.
From start to finish, the team documented the culture, stories, and celebrations that made the event unforgettable.
From the arrival of the first ship in port, Signal’s cameras were rolling. Over the course of seven days, crews filmed across the city, on the water, in the air, and behind the scenes, showcasing the incredible energy and international scope of an event that welcomed vessels and visitors from around the world.
The 2025 Tall Ships Races transformed Aberdeen with a vibrant atmosphere that spread from the harbour to the streets and skyline - and Signal was there to capture every moment.
Their coverage included:
- Pre-event promotional content generated a strong buzz across social media platforms.
- Live event filming, including crew parades, cultural showcases, and the iconic ships themselves.
- Interviews and storytelling, featuring young trainees on their first voyages, visitors discovering Aberdeen, and the many volunteers and organisers who made the event possible.
- Aerial drone footage that provided stunning perspectives of the ships arriving and departing in full sail.
- Daily edits that kept audiences engaged online, as well as a post-event film serving as a lasting legacy of Aberdeen’s hosting success.
With over an estimated 400,000 visits to the quayside and event spaces throughout the city, the atmosphere was electric. Signal aimed to reflect that energy in every frame. Working in close collaboration with Port of Aberdeen, Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen Inspired, and Sail Training International, Signal ensured the event was not only seen - but truly felt - by local communities, international audiences, and future generations alike.
Though experienced in large-scale productions, this event stood out for Signal. It was about pride of place, a shared experience, and a city bursting into life with colour, sound, and celebration. The team was honoured to play a part in telling that story.
Jordan Harkins, head of communications at Port of Aberdeen, said: “Signal’s video content has helped to tell the story of this amazing event, from the life-changing opportunities for young people to the vibrant atmosphere on the quayside, and much more. Signal’s flexibility, willingness to go the extra mile, and the quality of their content must be commended. The team can rightly be proud of how they supported the city’s biggest event in a generation.”
