Leading subsea controls specialist J+S Subsea Limited has unveiled a new state-of-the-art testing facility as it targets expansion in key emerging markets.

At a cost of almost £140,000 and with support from Energy Transition Zone Ltd (ETZ), Aberdeen-based J+S Subsea Limited has created two dedicated test bays for their fast-mate renewables connection system. The test bays are rated to 30,000 psi and will advance the company’s capabilities in the renewables and CCS sectors as well as energy transition activities such as decommissioning and late life asset support.

The purpose-built test cell will enable the supply, manufacture and rigorous testing of state-of-the-art electrical and hydraulic connection technology ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable transmission of power in subsea environments.

The new testing facility will strengthen the company’s product offering and create the potential for further recruitment to add to the 32-strong team based at its Dyce headquarters. 

Commenting on the creation of the test cell, J+S Subsea Limited Managing Director Phil Reid said: “This latest investment marks another important step forward for our business. With the support of ETZ Ltd and our move to significantly larger premises in late 2024, we are working towards long-term, sustainable growth.
