With its drinks offering continuing to develop, SOBR, Aberdeen's alcohol-free bar and events space, has announced that it has brought in another local artisan business to satisfy its coffee loving customers.

Figment, a specialty coffee roastery which roasts its coffee less than two miles away from SOBR’s Thistle Street location, has two of its ethically sourced coffee blends on the menu, making up a choice of lattes, cappuccinos, americanos and more.

As well as alcohol-free drinks, SOBR has a refreshed focus on extended daytime and early evening hospitality by highlighting it is one of the city’s few spots where you can enjoy specialty coffee after 4pm. In collaboration with the award-winning local roasters, SOBR will be serving their signature Heligoland blend, a beautifully balanced, expressive espresso and filter roast.

Alongside the Heligoland, SOBR will serve Daydream Sugar Cane Decaf, a naturally decaffeinated coffee with sweet notes of cherry and molasses, ideal for those lingering into the evening but not wanting the full caffeine rush. This unique offering reinforces SOBR’s commitment to providing exceptional late-afternoon and evening hospitality experiences in a city.

Commenting on the local coffee supplier joining the SOBR portfolio of drinks, Kate Kenyon, owner and entrepreneur behind SOBR, said: “We are thrilled that we are now serving Figment Coffee to our customers at SOBR. Figment Coffee is a business which already has a strong local following for its ethically sourced coffee, which could not taste more delicious.”

“Figment joins the growing list of local artisan producers with whom we are proud to collaborate. Their products enhance our range of non-alcoholic wines, beers, spirits, shots, and cocktails. As are still just coming out of the midst of a cold winter now, it’s important to have hot drinks on offer. Whilst in the summer months, we look forward to developing an iced coffee menu” said Kate.

“Working with Figment provides lots of scope,” finished Kate. “The potential is there to use these blends, and others from Figment’s stable, to create new cocktails, such as twists on espresso martinis. It’s a productive and exciting collaboration, and we can’t wait to get started.”

Neil Glover, who left a career in oil and gas to launch Figment Coffee in 2017, said: “We wish SOBR well in all its endeavours. We are very pleased and honoured to support another independent business in Aberdeen doing something really unique.  We think great coffee goes hand in hand with great alcohol-free drinks. As such, we can’t wait to see what the SOBR team do with it beyond our delicious espressos, cappuccinos and lattes.”

Figment recently launched its Figment Coffee Roasters subscription service for homes and businesses, with its customers receiving great coffee straight to their doors.  It serves coffee and brunch at its original location connected to The Roastery, on Countesswells Road, and opened The Wichery last year serving takeaway sandwiches and coffee on Fountainhall Road.

Having just experienced vibrant “Dry January” trading, SOBR Bar is continuing to build its seasonal events schedule for the year, and continues to highlight food suppliers, with a series of special “Cheese Weeks” and Wine and Cheese nights.

SOBR’S “Talks at the Bar” series has just started, with absorbing personal testimony from a number of locally based instagrammers and social commentators who now embrace a life of sobriety. These include Jade Auld, Mikey Banks, Sarah Rochester, and Kim Lam.

“There's plenty going on at SOBR,” finished Kate. “Please keep an eye on our social channels to find out more.”
