Speed Festival Heading Off-road With Flowline Specialists’ Support

An Aberdeenshire business has renewed its sponsorship of a popular motorsport event which returns to the north-east this weekend

Oldmeldrum-based Flowline Specialists is once again supporting the Royal Deeside Speed Festival by sponsoring the Land Rover Experience off-road trail. The event at Kincardine Castle on Sunday, August 20 is expected to welcome thousands of visitors to the local area.

After proving a hit with visitors last year, Land Rover Experience Scotland is returning to operate a technically challenging off-road trail. A team of instructors from the Dunkeld-based centre will transport visitors round the course in a fleet of the iconic British off-road manufacturer’s latest vehicles.

Specially constructed in the woods above the castle for last year’s inaugural event, the off-road trail has been upgraded over the last few months. The route is designed to showcase the technical capabilities of Land Rover’s vehicles as they take on a series of obstacles. These include the rocky road, the wall of doom, the toblerone, and Willie’s Drop – a blind, very steep descent over an edge into the depths of the estate’s old quarry.

After the Royal Deeside Speed Festival received an enthusiastic response from petrolheads last year, Flowline Specialists had no hesitation in backing this year’s event.

Jim Smith, Flowline Specialists CEO, said: “Last year’s Royal Deeside Speed Festival was a brilliant event and we’re very proud to be supporting it again this year. Kincardine Castle is a superb venue at which to host this type and scale of motorsports event. The organisers have once more lined up a varied schedule that will entertain and engage the crowd, meaning it is shaping up to be an excellent day.

“The Land Rover Experience off-road trail proved popular with visitors last year and it is great to be working with the team again. The course allows visitors to experience and understand the technical capabilities of Land Rover vehicles and the opportunity is not to be missed.”

This year’s Royal Deeside Speed Festival will host to a packed programme of activities. Alongside trips on the Flowline Specialists sponsored Land Rover Experience off-road trail, the event will include a demonstration hill climb up the castle drive involving 100 cars, displays of cars and motorbikes from leading dealerships and a static car show made up of around 100 classic and specialist cars.

The event will also feature a food, drink and craft festival that will showcase a range of locally made products. One of the day’s most entertaining elements will be the soapbox derby. Vintage-themed racers will have a number of obstacles to navigate as they speed down the castle drive, delivering plenty of amusement for the crowds.
