Sport Aberdeen is ecstatic to be shortlisted as a finalist in the ‘Healthy Communities’ category at this year’s ukactive Awards.

The judges received entries from organisations, operators and suppliers across the public and private sectors of the physical activity industry.

Sport Aberdeen’s entry focused on its SPACE (Supported Physical Activity for Care Experienced) programme, designed to support care experienced children and young people in Aberdeen towards a brighter future.

The unique programme has a life-changing impact on the young people it engages with through bespoke one-to-one support. The delivery model is a child-centred approach, ensuring that each child has a voice and can select the sporting activities they wish to participate in.

The ukactive Awards is the sector’s biggest awards ceremony of the year, sponsored by STA and taking place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Thursday 26 October.

Graeme Dale, Head of Sport and Active Communities, said: “It’s great news for Sport Aberdeen to be shortlisted in the Healthy Communities category.

“As a charity, we are committed to breaking down barriers and helping more people to get active. We look forward to celebrating at the ceremony alongside all the other organisations making a positive impact across the sector.”
