SRCN, experts in creating, refining, and improving work management systems and operational performance with a strong foundation in the oil and gas sector, has successfully commenced its first contract in the nuclear industry.

The company has been engaged by Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) at Dounreay to deliver a comprehensive work management current state assessment, a significant step forward in SRCN’s strategic diversification into new high-reliability sectors.

This project not only marks SRCN’s entry into the nuclear industry but also serves as clear validation that the methodologies, services, and skills honed in oil and gas are directly transferable to nuclear operations. The principles of safety, regulatory compliance, process discipline, and performance optimisation are core to both industries, and SRCN’s ability to apply them effectively underscores its relevance far beyond the energy sector.

“This is a major milestone for SRCN,” said Colin Wilson, managing director at SRCN. “Our experience in managing risk, improving asset integrity, realising significant cost savings and delivering operational excellence in oil and gas is directly applicable to nuclear decommissioning and, indeed, to any sector where safety, complexity, and precision are non-negotiable.”

By leveraging its oil and gas expertise, SRCN is well-positioned to support organisations in other high-hazard, high-consequence industries where structured work management, planning, and performance assurance are increasingly critical.

The Dounreay contract reflects growing recognition of the value that cross-sector expertise can bring to the nuclear sector. Located on Scotland’s northern coast, the Dounreay site presents complex decommissioning challenges, making it an ideal proving ground for SRCN’s capabilities.

The move into the nuclear sector represents a strategic diversification for SRCN, aligning with its long-term vision to apply its methodologies across multiple high-hazard industries. The company’s transition is supported by its commitment to innovation, safety, and continuous improvement, values that are critical in both the energy and nuclear sectors.

This first contract with NRS not only underscores confidence in SRCN’s expertise but also sets the stage for further growth and collaboration across the broader nuclear landscape.
