SSAFA Grampian extends its deepest gratitude to the community for their overwhelming support at the inaugural Big Brew Up Event, held on Saturday March 2 at Gordon Barracks despite the heavens opening up.

Despite the rain, the local community came together to show their solidarity with our veterans and their families. Approximately 75 attendees braved the elements to enjoy tea, coffee, and a delectable array of cakes and biscuits. The event provided an opportunity for guests to engage with SSAFA members, learn about the organization's vital work, and foster connections within the community.

The generosity of attendees and donors alike resulted in a remarkable fundraising total of £500 on the day, with additional contributions still pouring in from those unable to attend in person. The success of the event was further bolstered by a captivating prize draw, featuring enticing offerings such as an Air Fryer, Dolce Gusto Coffee Machine, and various vouchers and tickets generously donated by local businesses.

SSAFA Grampian extends heartfelt appreciation to the businesses that contributed prizes for the raffle, including Costco, White Horse Inn – Balmedie, J G Ross, Glen Garioch Distillery, Finnies the Jewelers, Raemoir Garden Centre, Macbeans, and Brew Dog.

Special thanks also go to Thistle Catering – Ellon for providing crockery and J G Ross for supplying baked goods. Mackenzie Print played a pivotal role in promoting the event through their posters and leaflets.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, remains steadfast in its commitment to providing unwavering support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families during times of need. The success of the Big Brew Up Event underscores the profound impact that community solidarity can have in making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have served our country.
