On June 7th 11am-3pm the St Machar Community Biodiversity Project will be holding a BioBlitz.
The historic graveyard surrounding St Machar’s Cathedral is buzzing with life as the St Machar Community Biodiversity Project continues its aim of encouraging more wildlife.
A team of dedicated volunteers have planted native flowers, bulbs and herbs to create sources of nectar.
A partnership with Aberdeen City Maintenance means that the group oversee the grass cutting scheme annually to sustain different habitats for insects to thrive.
Areas are left long over the growing season and others are cut short. School classes come and learn about pollination and identify plants.
Join the group on 7th June to explore the project and help local wildlife experts record the flora and fauna in the kirkyard. There will be family-friendly trails, learn more about bats. lichen and trees and go on a wildflower tour.
Free event. No tickets needed. Light refreshments available and native plants to buy.
